Wordpress 2.8 Baker Released
Only a few minutes ago, I finished upgrading my Batang Yagit blog to Wordpress 2.8. The new release was code named Baker comprises of 790 bug fixes and some major improvements. Among the new improvements that I noticed first is the new Dashboard theme’s color. It’s now more vibrant than that of 2.7’s.
Among the major improvements in the Wordpress Baker are the following:
- New Screen Options – In the previous version (2.7), Wordpress introduced an enhanced widgetized dashboard wherein it lets the user drag and rearrange components within the two-column dashboard, Wordpress Baker improved that functionality by adding the option to change the number of columns from single to four columns.
- Improved Widgets – In Wordpress Baker (2.8), users can now create multiple instances of a single widget and edit these widgets on the fly.
- Browsing of Themes Directory – Wordpress integrated its wordpress themes directory with the new version. Users can now easily browse the contents of the theme directory without leaving their Admin page and install these themes straight into their blogs. The new feature is pretty similar to what they did with the plugins page in 2.7.
- Better Code Editor – The built-in code editor for editing themes and plugins are now improved. It now includes color coding and line numbering.
All other features can be found at the Wordpres 2.8 Release Page.
